Money Beagle Personal Finance and Money One Day at a Time
  • Personal Finance Posts I Enjoyed This Week

Here are some posts from personal finance posts that I enjoyed this week (ending 9/6/08):

    • My Money Blog discusses how personal finance relates to Maslows Hierarchy of Needs, which is a basic concept in psychology.  I’ve seen this in a couple of classes as well as a certification I passed this year, so this was an interesting read.
    • Consumerism Commentary was the victim of theft, but it wasn’t as bad of an impact as it could have been.
    • The Happy Rock canceled Netflix after realizing it was no longer a value.  Kudos for making sure that these luxury items are really providing benefit, and not being afraid to cut the strings when they’re no longer providing value.
    • The Digerati Life explains why penny stocks are not a good investment.  Wow, I guess millions of spammers CAN be wrong!
    • ShtinkyKat explains how she survived on $6.75 a day for groceries.  I’m not sure I could do some of the things here for more than a week or two in a row, but either way there are some good ideas here.
    • Mrs. Micah talks about a downside to the ING Electric Orange Checking Account.  ING accounts have been getting a lot of buzz, and this is a great perspective.   I still think the Orange Savings account is a great tool for a savings account!
    • Favorite Post of the Week - MoneyNing discusses how perception with regards to prices helps keep us poor.  The example used about gas now not getting the attention it did two months ago because it’s ‘only’ $3.50 a gallon is spot on.  I believe that grocery and other retail stores are masterful at this.
    • Blueprint for Financial Prosperity points out what is probably a very common perception with regards to tax brackets.  Unfortunately, the perception is incorrect, and this post will help set things straight!
