Personal Finance Posts I Enjoyed This Week
It’s a rainy day today, but for the first time in many weekends, it’s ours to do with as we please! My wife and I are looking forward to spending time together, catching up on some R&R, and watching the ground soak up all the rain.
Here are some of my favorite personal finance posts that I read this past week:
- Blunt Money had to put the emergency fund to use. This is a great illustration of why having an emergency fund is key to have solid control of your ‘personal finance world’.
- Punny Money has a humorous solution for preventing hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico.
- Free Money Finance helps a reader weigh the pros and cons of piggybacking off unsecured wireless internet.
- The Simple Dollar reminds us that in many cases, you can’t get a discount unless you ask for one.
- A Penny Saved visited with grandma, and came away with a reminder on putting personal finance in perspective.
- Steadfast Finance has the perspective that index funds are bad investments. I can’t say I agree with everything here, but it gives thought and reminds us that we should make sure to explore more than option, whether it be index funds or another direction.
- So Cal Savvy was recently married (congrats) but had a 1950’s style experience at the bank.

Thanks for the link. I’m glad you got the larger point of exploring other investment vehicles rather than just relying solely on index funds.
