Many people, including my dear wife, will be getting up early and hitting the stores this Black Friday. Not me. I am proud to say that I do not plan on shopping at any stores. Here are my Black Friday plans for this year. What are yours?
Spend Time With My Kids
It’s pretty rare that I spend a big chunk of time with both of the kids. Usually it’s all four of us together, or the times that my wife is gone is just a few hours. This will be most of a day. While they are a handful when they start fighting (what 7 and 5 year old kids don’t?) we manage some fun times. I’ll plan some activities and fun meals.
Finish Up The Decorating
I said last week that we weren’t going to be decorating until after Thanksgiving. That turned out to not be so true. We ended up doing a chunk of it last Sunday as we realized that we really didn’t have anything else to do. Plus, the weather was awful.
I still have my Christmas village to put up. I’ve had a couple of villages that I have put up for over 20 years. My kids love helping. They help carry boxes up and down the stairs, and will hand me pieces and even put a few things up here and there. They’ve already been asking, so I know they’ll have fun with this.
Watch A Movie
I have a couple of ideas for blog posts that require me to watch a movie. Thankfully, it’s a movie that the kids love. I don’t want to give away the ending, so I’ll leave it at that. For now.
Check Out Some Online Deals
I don’t avoid shopping altogether on Black Friday. I just don’t go to stores. I’ll likely have the laptop up and will look around to see if I can get some gifts taken care of from the comfort of my own home. There’s less to buy this year (more on that on Monday), but I still have a list to take care of.
Get A Few Things Done Around The House
I want to clean out some paperwork in the basement office. My wife bought a mirror that she wants me to hang. I can get a few things done if the kids get into some activities that they can do on their own. They love to color and read / look at books, so there might be some time to get a few chores done.
I have a pile of library books that I want to finish reading. If I get a few minutes to sneak in some reading time, I’ll be very happy.
I’m hoping that today turns out to be a fun and relaxing day. What are your plans for Black Friday this year?Copyright 2017 Original content authorized only to appear on Money Beagle. Please subscribe via RSS, follow me on Twitter, Facebook, or receive e-mail updates. Thank you for reading.
