The Difference Between Men And Women

Guys, I think I’m one step closer to cracking the ‘women’ code that has perplexed us for ages.  It’s apparent that there’s a fundamental difference between men and women.

Want to know what it is?

Men and women both buy things.  That’s not the difference.

Men keep the things they buy.
Women exchange theirs.
Over and over!

Trying to keep track of the shopping purchases for my wife is impossible.  It isn’t because she spends too much.  No, she’s actually really good about staying within budget.  It’s impossible because it seems as if every clothing item she buys ends up going back at some point before it’s actually worn!

I can’t keep track of it all.  When my wife shows me something new that she just bought, I can only muster so much interest, because I know that if it’s the initial purchase, chances are it’s going back to the store!

I have no idea how to use this to ‘crack the code’ but it’s something that should definitely be studied carefully!

Enjoy the day!

  1. You are definitely on to something. I think the key is that women enjoy the process of shopping more than they enjoy whatever they purchase. Therefore, it is a good thing that your wife takes things back. It is her way to do more shopping and actually get paid for it. 🙂

  2. From a woman's perspective I agree with Joe…I love shopping! I love everything about it. The hunt for the bargain, the smell of something new, the pretty bag it comes in…I am not sure men will ever crack our code, but you are definately onto something Money Beagle!

  3. Ha, I suppose it could look like that to you.

Personally, I don't exchange much, but I know some women do. Maybe it's the idea that, out there, there's that elusive perfect item. (The same reason we search aaaall the milk gallons to find the ones with the latest expiration date.

  4. I think the best characterization I've ever heard regarding the difference between men and women with respect to store purchases is that "men buy, but women shop."

    All the best,

  5. That's pretty accurate! I'm also guilty of the same. Sometimes, things just don't look as good at home as they did in the store — even if it was a bargain buy.

  6. Hey MB,
About men keeping things. I agree for the most part, but I think I've found myself an exception of a wife. She keeps things too. She outright admitted this weekend that she has so many shoes because she can't bring herself to throw out 'perfectly good shoes' just because they're scuffed, dirty and worn, because they are still so comfortable. So what happens is she rarely wears them because they look bad, but won't chuck them cause they feel good.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I just thought it was funny and worth a mention.

  7. Great comments, all! My wife does a great job ending up with just the right item and I think it's because the journey to get the item is fulfilling as well.
